Paul Burke has had well over ten years of experience in the IT field, gaining his MCSE in 1999, updated with the release of Windows Server 2003. He has worked for such companies as Liberata - a business process outsourcing company, in their primary data centre as a senior wintel server engineer, Tribal Group (Education and Technology Division) - a software house and managed IT services company, ALcontrol Laboratories - a food, water and environmental testing company, and Summit Technologies - a computer hardware reseller and IT maintenance services company.

Since starting Honu Consulting in August 2006, he has provided IT consultancy services to customers involving the implementation of RIS, Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and 2007, with Microsoft ISA server, Exchange installation and ongoing management using various cluster types, implementation and ongoing management of Blackberry Enterprise Servers, and various other implementation tasks (RIS, DNS, Group Policies, WSUS etc). More recently he has been involved with the installation and configuration for multiple clients, the "cloud" based anti-spam, anti-virus and e-mail archiving products from Mimecast. Perhaps the best reference is the fact that every client has asked him back multiple times for further advice and help in different stages of projects, and to work on different solutions.

Microsoft - I "grew up" with MS-DOS, and have managed all versions of Windows from 2, and NT 3.51. I have over ten year's experience of managing Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, 2000, 2003 and 2007, including migrations from Lotus Notes and Netscape Mail Server. I have almost ten years of experience with Active Directory, including migrations from legacy domains, along with the attached mail infrastructure migrations. I have managed country wide Active Directory forests with tens of thousands of objects, covering multiple sites, with multiple domains and trusts to and from multiple external domains and forests. I have experience of configuring and managing web and FTP sites using Microsoft IIS, including strong certificate management experience. I am skilled in the major Microsoft networking technologies such as RRAS, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, Remote Installation Services, RADIUS (IAS), SUS and WSUS, clustering etc. I have worked in multiple large data centres, both hosting and hosted, and understand the importance of control, documentation and full change management in such environments.



Cisco - I have completed the Cisco instructor led course "Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices". This, along with multiple years of experience with PIX firewall configuration, including VPNs, and similar experience with layer 2 and layer 3 Catalyst switch configuration, including routing, VLANs, access lists, etherchannel and trunking, some experience with ASA configuration, experience of Cisco routers, including ADSL and ISDN routers, gives me the background and ability to be comfortable with any Cisco device or configuration I may come across. My networking skills are not limited to Cisco however - I have experience of working with Watchguard and ISA firewalls, HP, Dell and 3COM switches etc.
